Oregon Pathfinders monthly Leadership Letter March 2010

Dear Pathfinder Directors and Staff,

Hopefully you joined me last month as we started reading and studying together the Seven Steps for Successful Pathfinder Leadership booklet and the Pathfinder Staff Manual.  I know that a few of you started reading with me because we have had discussions about the material we have read.  I want to encourage everyone, if you did not follow the reading assignments, to join me this month with them.  I continue to refer Club Directors and Staff to these 2 resources whenever they call me for help or suggestions.  Again I must declare that these 2 resources are awesome!  Study them with me - please.  As we study them together they will help us to continue to build Pathfinder ministry!

In case you missed the February reading assignment here it is again.

February's reading:

  • Feb 7-13 - read the Seven Steps for Successful Pathfinder Leadership booklet through at least once
  • Feb 14-20 - read the Pathfinder Staff Manual - Philosophy and Objectives pages 7-8 (2007 edition)
  • Feb 21-27 - read again and memorize the Why? Chapter of the 7 Steps booklet pages 9-14

March's reading:

  • Feb 28-Mar 6 - read the Seven Steps for Successful Pathfinder Leadership booklet through at least once again. Please don't ignore this reading because you have read it before. Repetition will help us get the concepts of this booklet in our minds. It is our tool for building ministry.
  • Mar 7-13 - read the Pathfinder Staff Manual - Club Organization pages 33-39 (2007 edition)
  • Mar 14-20 - read and memorize the 7 Steps booklet - Second Step: Who? pages 15-17.
  • Mar 21-27 - read the Pathfinder Staff Manual - Pathfinder Staff pages 85-91 (2007 edition)

Step #2 (of the 7 Steps booklet) Develop a list of available people

  • 1. Group #1: Regular Staff - those who lead out regularly in the activities of the club
  • 2. Group #2: Support Staff - those who help out occasionally with specific needs or tasks
  • 3. Group #3: Pathfinder "Boosters" - those who believe in Pathfinder ministry and provide whatever is needed in special situations

"The goal is to get as many involved as possible." (page 17)

This month continue the journey with me and our Coordinators of rediscovering who God has called to Pathfindering.  Get the 7 Steps booklet out and review the 2nd step with us.  Pray through the concepts that are presented in pages 15-17.  Bring the concepts and ideas to the throne of God and stay "humble and simple and on your knees at His feet."  Ponder the concepts.  Memorize the 3 groups.  Listen for inspiration and ideas of who Jesus is already working on calling into Pathfinder ministry and join Him in His work.  Be filled with His inspiration.  Let Him fill you, guide you, and direct you as you endeavor to fulfill His calling by calling others to ministry.  He wants to work through us in enabling others to experience His calling in their lives as well as start or re-start their own Pathfinder ministry.

Lord, teach us how to help each other to have the "Courage to Stand" and lead Pathfinder ministry,

Pastor Tracy Wood

Praises & Concerns:

Praising God for the opportunities that He continues to give us in leading others to Jesus Christ!

Tracy & Angelina are praising the Lord for the protection of their immediate family members who live in Santiago, Chile.  Continue to pray for their extended families that live in the city of Concepcion and the outlying regions.  Pray for the many others who have lost loved ones in the earthquake and tsunamis.
