Oregon Pathfinders monthly Leadership Letter May 2010
Courage to Stand (Jeremiah 1:7-8) Dear Pathfinder Directors and Staff, This month continue the journey with me of rediscovering the what of Pathfinder ministry. Review the 4th step with me of the Seven Steps for Successful Pathfinder Leadership booklet. Pray through the concepts that are presented in pages 21-26. (Yes - page 21 of the 3rd step has important points that lead into the 4th step.) Bring these training ideas to Jesus in prayer and ask Him how to apply this chapter. Ask our District Coordinators to help you. They are the Pathfinder specialists that this chapter refers to, figuring out what needs to be known, to understood, to experienced, and learned. The Holy Spirit wants to work through you in ways you have yet to experience in Pathfinder ministry. This is our calling! May's reading: Step #4 (of the 7 Steps booklet) If you are experienced Staff, help to train your new Staff what to do - this will take time but this is necessary in order for your club to operate smoothly. Lord, teach us how to help each other to have the "Courage to Stand" and lead Pathfinder ministry, Pastor Tracy Wood Oregon Conference Pathfinder Director Office 503-850-3500 Email tracy.wood@oc.npuc.org Web site www.orgcpathfinders.adventistnw.org Oregon Pathfinders is now on Facebook Praises & Concerns: We are praising the Lord for a great Pathfinder year and are looking forward to the celebration of Pathfinder ministry at the Pathfinder Fair. Praise the Lord for the Pathfinders who have preached for Pathfinder Sabbath throughout this Pathfinder year, and for the Staff who have provided the opportunities and enabled them to be successful for God! April Review: Division-level Bible Achievement Congratulations to Pleasant Valley Pathfinders, who represented Oregon Pathfinders and the North Pacific Union at the Division-level Pathfinder Bible Achievement on April 17 at Andrews University in Michigan. Along with two other clubs from Upper Columbia Conference, all 3 clubs received 2nd place awards. May Preview Spanish Safety Training for Leaders Thanks to the 70+ people that attended the Spanish Pathfinder Staff Safety Training on May 2. Together, we will continue to do everything we can to make our churches and Pathfinder Ministry safe from all types of harm. Yearly Points You will need to estimate your May points and send them in by May 5. Connie will do a year-end tally for each club and send what she has back for you to review. If your records indicate that there needs to be point adjustments for your club, you must respond back to Connie by May 14. No monthly points will be adjusted at the Fair. Fair Planning Pinewood Derby at the Pathfinder Fair Get your cars tuned-up. Bring your cars - any cars, your parents' "antique" cars, your kids' cars, your neighbors' cars, your old cars, your new cars - any cars. We will have 2 race tracks at the Pathfinder fair - a 2-lane practice track (provided by Hillsboro Pathfinders - Thanks!) and a 6-lane official race track with digital read-out times (provided by Meadow Glade Pathfinders - Thanks!). There will be 3 classifications: the Show Class, the Regulation Class, and the Modified Class. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes will be awarded to the cars for the Best of Show (judged by the Big Lake Staff), the Fastest Regulation (following Pinewood Derby rules), and the Fastest Modified (anything goes).
